Transport & Movement Strategy

Our transport proposals aim to make the town centre easier to reach and more pleasant to move around, whether you walk, cycle, use public transport, or drive.

Walking

Wider pavements, improved crossings, and better street lighting throughout the town centre. All routes will be fully accessible.

Cycling

New segregated cycle lanes on key routes, plus 200 additional cycle parking spaces including secure covered stands.

Public Transport

A new bus interchange with real-time information and weather protection. Enhanced frequency on routes serving the town centre.

Cars & Parking

A new multi-storey car park on the edge of the town centre replaces scattered on-street spaces. Total parking provision is maintained at current levels. Electric vehicle charging points will be provided.
